General Education Assessment
General education at VCU, known as "ConnectED," is a cornerstone of our undergraduate programs, designed to help students broaden their perspectives both within and beyond the classroom. ConnectED serves as a bridge between academic learning and real-world experiences.
In alignment with the SCHEV Policy on Student Learning Assessment and Quality in Undergraduate Education, the program assesses key competency areas, including civic engagement, to ensure students are prepared for informed and active participation in society.
The program is centered around core learning outcomes, with outcomes assessed systematically on a multi-year cycle. This structured approach is guided by a commitment to evidence-based continuous improvement, ensuring that our assessments lead to meaningful change. The following reports present the assessment results for the General Education cycles from 2021 through the 2025–26 academic year:
