VCU Off-Campus Instructional Sites

SACSCOC defines an off-campus instructional site as “a location geographically apart from an institution's sole main campus and where instruction is delivered.” Virginia Commonwealth University’s two main campuses are located a mile away from each other both in downtown Richmond. The Monroe Park Campus is home to most of our undergraduate students and their classes. Our five health sciences schools and our top-rated medical center are located on the MCV Campus. VCU also provides instruction at the off-campus instructional sites (OCIS) listed below.

The following off-campus instructional sites (OCIS) are approved by SACSCOC:

Information for Programs

Types of Off-Campus Instructional Sites

  • Approved >=50%: Site is approved to offer any portion of a program. Additional programs may be offered with no further site notification or approval. Only sites offering 50% or more of a program require approval.
  • Approved Branch >=50%: Site is approved as a branch campus to offer any portion of a program. Additional programs may be offered with no further site notification or approval.
  • Approved Cert >=50%: Site is approved to offer any portion of a certificate program only. Additional certificate programs, or up to 50% of non-certificate programs, may be offered with no further site notification or approval.
  • Notified 25-49%: Less than 50% of a program may be offered at the site. Less than 50% of additional programs may be offered with no further site notification.
  • Sites offering less than 25% of a program do not require notification or approval.

Note to department heads and program administrators: if you are currently offering or planning to offer credit-bearing instruction at any location other than those in the "SACSCOC-Approved Off-Campus Instructional Sites" list below, please contact the university’s accreditation liaison.
